Part-time accounts clerk Kirsty Lane, 29, held a £40,000 ceremony at at the Tudor-built Great Hall at Mains venue, in Little Singleton, in January.

The mum-of-one Lane who earned less than £20,000, admitted to 122 counts of fraud at Leyland Magistrates' Court for stealing from audio visual company Pure AV.

In court on Wednesday the bride pleaded guilty to 10 counts of fraud worth a total of £38,000 and asked for a further 112 counts of fraud to be taken into consideration.

Employer Peter Sutton, 44, told The Sun: "The wedding raised alarm bells - it was the most lavish I've ever seen. Up to then, she always claimed poverty. How it didn't sink the firm I don't know."

Fellow director Richard Lister, 41, commented in the newspaper: "When we said goodbye, we joked we'd have to check the accounts — and she started laughing. We'd no idea what she'd done."
