The duchess wed 60-year-old civil servant Alfonso Diez Carabaotes at a palace in Seville yesterday.
The bride, who is worth between €600m (£528m) and €3.5bn, emerged from the grand building to throw her wedding bouquet into the crowd and dance flamenco.
She wore a salmon-pink dress with moss-green sash.
Seville residents supported the marriage.
Concepcion Arrincon told AFP news agency: "Age has nothing to do with it - as long as there is love, that's the most important thing."
The duchess revealed she had to overcome opposition from her six children before the wedding.
In July she assigned castles, palaces and other House of Alba property for her children to inherit upon her death.
Speaking to Hola! magazine at the time she said the agreement was "a little difficult to obtain".
"I achieved [my objective] of trying to persuade each one [of her children].
"I am not a person who lets herself be managed – I have my own ideas and I try to convert them into reality."
The duchess, insists while she is alive she is still in control of her fortune.
"I made the shareout because I wanted to. Nobody pressured me," she commented in the Spanish publication. "Anyway, as long as I am alive everything remains in my hands."
The duchess, whose full name is Maria del Rosario Cayetana Alfonsa Victoria Eugenia Francisca Fitz-James Stuart y de Silva, has known of Alfonso for over 30 years but only began dating him three years ago after they met at a cinema.
