Spending On Wedding Presents Doubles

According to new research from Santander people in the UK now fork out an average £131 on wedding gifts for close family members – more than double the amount spent two years ago.

The new research shows that the nation has spent more than £1.36bn on presents for the bride and groom in the last year.

Brits now allocate an average £78 per person for a wedding gift, rising to £131 for close family members.

However despite more money being spent, 15 per cent of people are trying to reduce the amount they spend on weddings because they have less cash to spare.
