Family Are VIPs On Big Day

Get Married recently launched its first-ever promotion for brides to vote for which wedding elements are most important to them. With more than 4,200 votes collected during a two-week period, results indicate key insights into bridal psychology, emphasising that family and capturing memories are of utmost importance.

Which wedding element matters most to brides? According to Get Married, having all your friends and family in attendance trumps everything when it comes to planning the perfect day. This underscores results from a recent survey commissioned by Get Married, which indicates that family (64%) and friends (62 %) are the top resources brides turn to for advice to get started in planning their wedding. It also supports an increase in faux-elopements and destination weddings where brides are including just their most special friends and family to surround them at their celebration.

Brides selected among choices that included the perfect designer dress, engagement ring, reception menu, ceremony venue, honeymoon, DJ, photography, and wedding guests. While ceremony venue, photography and DJ/entertainment ranked tops with Get Married users, ultimately friends and family swept the competition with an overwhelming 86% of the votes in the final bracket round.

Certainly guests are a top priority for brides and, not surprisingly, photography is also an important planning essential, sweeping other traditional wedding staples like the dress and wedding venue.

"Photographs are important as they will be the key to remembering the love and joy you shared with your spouse on this one-of-a-kind day," a participating bride explained. "You may not always remember the song that played while you cut the cake, but the picture of the two of you sharing it will bring back so many memories!"
