Facebook Campaign Couple Tie The Knot

A woman who launched a social networking campaign to persuade to her fiancée to get married has tied the knot.

Kelly Coxhead, 31, from Swindon was challenged by her fiancé Paul Mapplethorpe to get a million members to join her facebook group 'I need one million people to join for Paul to marry me'.

"She actually asked me when I was half asleep and it was the first figure that came into my mind," Paul told the BBC.

"But if I'd wanted her to fail I would have done a billion."

"The million was Paul's idea but the page was my idea," Kelly added. "But when my cousin decided to contact the press - it just went a bit crazy."

The group only got 170,000 users before it was attacked by hackers and deleted by Facebook but Paul agreed to set the date.

They married last Friday at Swindon Registry Office.
