Couple Celebrate Marriage With A Spin

Two cycling enthusiasts have tied the knot at a road cycling event.

Rick Millin, 48, and Jo Louden (33) from Guildford, Surrey, who got engaged on their way to Etape Caledonia in 2010, began married life at the UK’s biggest closed road cycling event earlier this year.

The couple tied the knot at the IMG Challenger World event Macmillan Cancer Support Etape Caledonia, in Pitlochry, in front of 5000 participants.

Jo commented: "We both wanted a fairly low key wedding and we’re ultra competitive when it comes to cycling so, taking into account we got engaged on the way up to Etape Caledonia last year, we thought: why not?"

Rick, who is a carpenter by day and a spin instructor by night, said: "Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity very close to our hearts, as both my parents were affected by cancer and we feel it is important to support the charity that did so much for them, on our special day."

Craig Fordham, challenge events manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: "We are delighted that Rick and Jo have decided to get married at the start of Etape Caledonia, before they cycle 81 miles to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. We are very grateful, and everyone at Macmillan wishes them a very happy race, and marriage."
