Shaw Media, in partnership with ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Proper Television, is bringing the first Canadian edition of the international hit series Four Weddings to Canada, premiering on SliceTM on Wednesday, January 4 at 10 pm ET/PT.
For the first time ever, Canadian brides have the opportunity to pit their weddings against one another in a matrimonial showdown and SliceTM viewers have a front row seat to all the action. In each episode, four outspoken brides attend and judge each other's weddings and rate them out of 10 in four categories - the venue, the food, the overall experience and of course - the dress. The bride with the highest total score wins a luxurious honeymoon for her and her new hubby.
"The Four Weddings franchise has already had a tremendous response among international audiences," said Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President of Content, Shaw Media. "And now, for the first time ever, we're offering our viewers the opportunity to take in the styles and tastes of fellow Canadian brides tying the knot on home soil. Four Weddings Canada is an ideal addition to our wide range of fresh, fun winter programming on SliceTM."
In the January 4th premiere, four very diverse brides compete for top prize. Drama-loving Chantal has an elegant soap-opera themed wedding while fiery tomboy Melissa, hosts guests at a fusion of South American and Latin cultures. Girly-girl Kristen's wedding is a fairytale day fit for a princess, the polar opposite of country gal Jori's wedding - complete with a buffet, cash-bar, and live animals. Tune in and watch as these four feisty brides step up to the altar to claim their prize - a honeymoon fit for a princess, or maybe a cowgirl? Or even a tomboy?
Produced by ITV Studios and originating in the United Kingdom, Four Weddings has captured audiences in 17 territories across the globe. Comprised of Canadian contestants and exclusive to SliceTM, Four Weddings Canada is sure to become an audience favourite.
"Four Weddings Canada has been a blast to make and it's even more fun to watch. It's witty, wise and warm-hearted and a great showcase for the many different kinds of marriages we have in Canada today," said Guy O'Sullivan, President, Proper Television.
