Wicklow Weddings Ireland's Most Expensive Says Survey

At an average of €22,280, Wicklow is the dearest county in Ireland to get married in, a wedding survey has revealed.

The cheapest county in Ireland to get married in is Louth with weddings costing an average of €19,820, the only county in Ireland coming in under €20,000.

September is the most popular month to get married in seeing 15% of all Irish weddings, while January is the least popular on just 2%.

Irish wedding website WeddingFace.com used a sample size of over 1,000 actual wedding budgets from couples from the 26 counties, they calculated the average amount spent for the 15 most typical wedding categories.Figures are rounded to the nearest €5.

The study shows that the cheapest month to get married in is January costing on average €19,780 but couples getting married in June pay nearly €2,500 more at €22,200 on average. Overall the average cost of a wedding in Ireland is €21,135, a €1,000 increase on last year.

The study was conducted using over 1,000 actual wedding budgets from couple across the Republic of Ireland (26 counties).

Company Director, Alan Joyce, commented: "Considering that the wedding reception is the biggest expense on anyone’s budget, it’s not surprising that Wicklow being the ‘Garden of Ireland’ and with its many exclusive wedding venues comes out as Ireland’s dearest.

"It was also interesting to see that Dublin came in as the 8th cheapest county in Ireland, where traditionally you would expect the capital’s prices to be amongst the highest."
