Soul Legend Aretha Franklin Calls Off Engagement

Aretha Franklin has called off her wedding to William Wilkerson.

Just weeks after announcing their engagement the soul singer has had a change of heart.

Her statement read: "Regretfully, Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast. There were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly.


"There will be no wedding at this time. We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends."

The couple were planning to tie the knot in June or July and were considering Miami Beach, Florida, as a location with a reception on a private yacht.

The singer has been married twice before.
