Ronia Ghusein, owner, the store has travelled throughout the world to attend bridal fashion shows and meet with notable designers.
"While the bridal fashion world has become global it still is heavily influenced by icons of the day, and today is no exception," explained Ghusein.
Every generation's brides are inspired by a handful of style icons. Our grandmothers had Grace Kelly, our mothers had Diana and today’s brides, according to Ghusein, have Duchess Kate and soon the influence of Britney Spears, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Hudson and Halle Berry.
Among the 2012 trends that Ghusein expects brides to wear include:
Colour: Vibrant colour is in. We’re seeing a lot of plum and violet for example. You’ll see this in the fashions and in the flowers – hydrangeas, roses and orchids are among the most popular flowers for weddings.
Illusion Neckline: The illusion style is created when a sheer, delicate and often embellished layer of fabric is added to cover all or part of the space that is otherwise exposed in a strapless gown. It transforms the look into one that is soft, elegant and romantic.
Veil-less: Instead, today's bride is opting for hats, headbands, and head pieces. Many of these accessories are made with feathers and flowers.
Themed Dresses: Disney, Kathy Hilton (Paris Hilton's mother), even supermodel Kathy Ireland are designing gowns based on various themes.
Tiers: Designers seem to be focused on ruffles and tiers. "The top tier is a genius way to camouflage wider hips," Ghusein added.
Lace Sleeves: With all the buzz around last spring's Royal wedding and the wedding in the recent Twilight saga, Ghusein said the "iconic lace sleeves are back and bigger than ever".
