The six part drama, SWAGS, will be focus on four women, Debbie, Gemma, Louise and Claire, who live at the Army quarters in Leysham while their partners are at war.
ITV Studios executive producer Kieran Roberts said: "SWAGS is an emotional and heart-wrenching drama about the women who fight their own battles on the home front whiles thousands of miles away their loved ones are risking their lives every day. Seeing how these remarkable women cope with survival, triumph, love and loss will make compelling viewing."
Director of Drama Commissioning Laura Mackie said: "We’ll have an insight into the lives behind the headlines. It’ll be an emotional story brilliantly written by Jan McVerry and Sue Teddern."
Casting will begin in the next few months.

ITV has commissioned a new drama series about the wives and girlfriends of soldiers serving in Afghanistan.The six part drama, SWAGS, will be focus on four women, Debbie, Gemma, Louise and Claire, who live at the Army quarters in Leysham while their partners are at war.
