Katherine has shown strong support for British troops fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. Just before Christmas 2010, she was forced to cancel a trip to Afghanistan as snow blocked fights – so she sang for troops at the airport instead.
Through its Valentine Hero campaign, forcespenpals.co.uk, a military dating and penpal website, urging its members to write messages of love and support for the guys and girls serving in the armed forces – especially those fighting in Afghanistan.

Elizabeth wrote: "A great big Happy Valentines Day hug to all our brave soldiers, we are so proud of you all."
Jules wrote: "To all our soldiers who are out in Afghan, I’m sending you all lots of love and prayers to keep you all safe and bring you back home to all your loved ones. Happy Valentine’s Day! And come home safely, special thoughts go to David K, we're all thinking about you and wish you a speedy tour. Jules xxx."
The campaign continues until Friday February 18. The site is making a donation to Help for Heroes as part of the campaign.
