London Marathon Anniversary Pair Robbed

A couple have been burgled as they ran the London Marathon to mark their 50th wedding anniversary.

Retired teachers Chris Robson, 73, and his wife Charm, 72, from St Bees, Cumbria, had their house broken into while they took part in the event.

Around £60 of the sponsorship money they raised for Alzheimer's Research UK was stolen.

The couple plan to honour the money if the insurance company won't cover it.

Mr Robson told the BBC: "Charm runs much faster than I do, she's a rather fast old biddy really.

"I was overtaken by a green giraffe at mile 22 which is pretty depressing and puts one's own athletic prowess into some sort of perspective."

Mr Robson finished the marathon in 5 hours, 44 minutes. Mrs Robson completed the race in 4 hours, 45 minutes respectively.
