Arctic Explorer Weds At The North Pole

Arctic explorer Borge Ousland has wed his beau at the northern-most point on Earth.

Ousland, 49, and fiancée Hege, 35, said 'I do' at the North Pole.

The Norwegian couple tied the knot in temperatures as low as minus seven degrees celsius in April.

Borge said: "The North Pole is a big part of my life so I felt it needed to play some part in my wedding too.

"For me it was all about marrying the woman I love in a place I love. It was a very emotional ceremony. Everyone has said it is a very fitting location for me to wed because of my job.

"It was my idea because I spend a lot of time in the Arctic and it seemed the perfect place for me to marry. I mooted the idea subtly to my wife, Hege, to test the waters. And when she said it was a fabulous idea I got to work straightaway trying to make it happen.

"Thankfully we found a priest called Dag Henrik Berggrav who was willing to marry us."
