Tarzan’s Centenary Set To Be Celebrated By London’s Males

100 years since the character Tarzan first appeared in 'Tarzan of the Apes', the capital’s long-established socialising and dating club for singles, Dinner Dates, is on the lookout for London’s 21st century version of the storybook and film hero.

Dinner Dates believes men have shied away from, to coin a phrase, aping the king of the jungle, believing him to be all brawn and no brain and little more than a testosterone-ladened loincloth wearer. Just thirty years ago, 'Me Tarzan: you Jane' was a popular chat up line, but that cheesy take on Tarzan lingo helped tarnish the wild boy’s image.

In fact, as Dinner Dates points out, Tarzan had few character flaws, was athletic, courageous, loyal and multi-lingual – all the things London’s ladies are looking for in a mate. Recent research conducted by Dinner Dates shows the top five male interests appealing to a woman are sport, cookery, DIY, languages and music – pretty much all the talents Tarzan possessed!

Dinner Dates’ director, Cynthia Spillman, said: "The London man needs to rekindle his inner Tarzan and get out and meet engaging, intelligent women rather than staying late in the office and then returning home to a lonely bachelor pad.

"Men seeking a soul-mate should get back to their true nature by stripping away all the layers of protection or bravado, showcase their interests and stop thinking they will find their Jane in a club or through an office romance. The best way to explore a potential relationship is to socialise in a no-pressure environment and see who might wander into your rainforest one day."

To encourage men to find their inner Tarzan, Dinner Dates has arranged a social event in the tree tops! Attendees of all ages and interests will be swinging through the tree canopy at Go Ape, in Trent Park, Cockfosters on Sunday July 22. Male and female Dinner Dates members can walk on the wild side for a few hours, ride zip wires, experience the exhilaration of swinging through the trees and generally have fun chilling out as a group.

A chance for more in depth socialising will then be presented by a barbecue laid on in the forest, where Tarzans and Janes can exchange their own thoughts on life in the trees.

Faint heart never won forest mate, so Dinner Dates’ advice to London’s men is to start beating those chests, putting July 22 in their diary and socialising for singles on their agenda.
