Vouchers May be The New Dating Currency

Three quarters of us would be happy to go on a second date if our new squeeze used a voucher to pay for dinner on the first date, a new survey has found.

More than half of us would even feel 'happy' that our date was bagging a bargain so they could spend more money spoiling them for the rest of the evening. Only 10 per cent said that using a voucher on a date would appear 'tight'.

The research, carried out on behalf of Save.co.uk, found eating out was the second most popular thing to use a voucher for (47 per cent) after food shopping (79 per cent).

The research also found that the recession has bought vouchers into the mainstream, with 82 per cent of respondents admitting to using more vouchers today than this time last year.

Jackie Warrick, Director of Operations at Save.co.uk said: "Consumers have become accustomed to using vouchers to save money on everyday purchases and eating out is no different. While the recession is coming to an end, Brits are still keen to bag a bargain at dinner as well as on the high street. It is great to see that there is no longer a taboo about using vouchers - even when dining out with a new romantic interest. Why would you pay full price when you can use a voucher and get the same for less?"
