"Summer is the most popular time for weddings, but weather conditions can make it a challenge for brides to stay fresh-faced and comfortable. While indoor weddings or evening weddings are ideal, many of our brides adore the idea of an outdoor summer day wedding," said media contact Harper Butler.
•Light and Airy Dress Choices
Traditional wedding dress materials such as satin and heavy silk are often too thick for summer weddings. For outdoor weddings or weddings that partially take place outside, consider dressing in a material that breathes such as linen or cotton. A tea-length wedding dress is a much cooler choice than a full-length gown, which can capture heat. High-low dresses are a great middle ground, because they are long and dramatic in the back, but are shorter in the front.
•Parasol
The parasol is a practical alternative to the bouquet, and many brides and bridesmaids carry these beautiful paper or fabric umbrellas in southern-themed weddings. They not only provide much needed shade, but also won’t attract insects the same way as flowers.
•Sun Block
Sun block is a must for day weddings year –round. However, brides and bridesmaids may have to experiment with several brands as some types of sun block can leave a greasy oily residue on clothing.
•Waterproof makeup
Liquid makeup has the tendency to melt under heat. Instead, choose the powdered or crayon versions so that the makeup stays put from start to finish. A primer not only helps the makeup application go on more smoothly, but also keeps it from travelling. Finish off your look with waterproof mascara.
•An Updo
Although curls are romantic and fun, the last thing a bride wants is sweaty or frizzy hair clinging to the back of her neck all day. An updo to keep your neck cool, allowing you to stay fresh at your summer wedding. It can also create a great formal contrast for a more casual wedding dress.
