Mum-of-one Ashleen Cahill, of Newbridge, Co Kildare lost her €7,000 engagement ring when her singer friend Imogen Gunner dumped a ball of tissue containing the ring down the loo.
She made mistake while the two friends were enjoying a weekend away at the Bellinter House Hotel in Navan, Co Meath.
Drainage teams searched the septic tank to find the ring were unable to loacate it.
Ashleen, 30, who will wed Shane Finnegan in Ashford Castle later this year, told The Irish Sun she was not letting it get her down.
She said: “Of course I am really disappointed, they were mementoes of huge sentimental value.
“But I have a little girl Ellie and you just think: ‘It’s only a ring, things could be worse.’
“That said, I was devastated to lose them.
“But the help and support people have given has been so nice that it over-rides the grief of losing them.
“I am so grateful to all those who helped.”
She added: “They checked every corner, they looked everywhere until they ran out of oxygen.
“They did their very best.”
