The HBO's Girls star is set to wed her chef boyfriend of two years, Jon, 31, after he proposed during their July trip to Ventotene, Italy.
"One second you're having lunch, the next you have a ring on your finger!" the actress, 33, told US.
Her 2.5-carat engagement ring was designed by Itay Malkin.
"When I am cooking at home, I have a couple rules. Keep it fast and not a lot of dishes," Chef Shook told Us. "I knew Shiri was a keeper because the first time we cooked together she washed the dishes."
His mum already wants a wedding date set.
"We called and she said, 'Mazel tov! When's the date?' We said, 'We got engaged 30 seconds ago!'"
