Murray, of Scotstoun, Glasgow, told The Sun: "I’d taken the ring off to put on hair gel after work. The bus driver was really helpful — she told me how to contact customer services. The next day, I got a call from First at 8.30am saying they had retrieved my ring.

"The security team brought it to me at work. I’d like to thank their lost property service and the security team."

Alan Pert, First Glasgow’s security manager, told the paper: "In special circumstances such as this, we get involved to locate misplaced wedding rings in cash boxes.

"It doesn’t happen very often and we were pleased to reunite Murray with his."
