Princess Diana Wedding Dress Offcuts Set To Fetch £10,000

Wedding off-cuts from Princess Diana's wedding dress are expected to fetch up to £10,000 at auction.

The lavish silk, tulle and lace dress, with its huge veil, thousands of sewn-in pearls and a 25-foot train, was worn by the young Diana on the day she married Prince Charles, in 1981.

Now its designer Elizabeth Emanuel has put a collage of offcuts, including five pieces of the gown’s fabric and one from a bridesmaid's sash, up for auction.

The designer gave the collage to the family who cared for her children during the two weeks prior to the royal wedding, as a token of her appreciation.

Kylie Whitehead of PFC Auctions said: "This is a unique memento of Charles & Diana's wedding which was watched on TV by an estimated 750m people worldwide. This collage is the perfect opportunity for collectors to own such a personal item from the wedding of the People's Princess."

Bidding for the rare pieces is open now and ends on Thursday 27 September 2012.
