50 Dates In Dublin

Recently Dublin has received some harsh criticism in the romantic stakes, with Dublin men topping the polls as the most un-romantic men in Ireland. All this week -Monday 11th to Friday 15th of February-DublinTown is giving Dublin men some needed inspiration.

The people who brought 'Dine in Dublin', the 'Dublin Fashion Festival' and 'Dublin at Christmas' will be spreading the love and setting the mood for Valentines with '50 Dates in Dublin'.

They have searched from Parnell Street to Stephens Green to bring Dubliners a range of romantic, fun and unusual dates around town for singletons and couples alike.

Those looking for inspiration are invited to experience the quirks that the city has to offer by visiting the website www.50datesindublin.ie. Dates listed range from slightly surreal to active and adventurous, from relaxing to just down-right romantic.

DublinTown has asked some of the city centre businesses to show the love by offering up some completely unique dates as competitions. Some of the once in a lifetime dates to be won include:

• Lunch on the Luas where a lucky couple will be given their own private Luas carriage kitted out as an exclusive restaurant. The couple can then take in the views on the traveling Luas as they are served a mouth-watering meal from Saba restaurant by their own personal waiter.

• Breakfast at Appleby’s, here we give Dublin men a chance to redeem themselves in the love polls by offering them the most iconic date of all time. The winning man can be George Peppard to his Audrey Hepburn and surprise his partner with breakfast at Appleby’s dazzling new outlet in Arnotts Department Store. The winning couple will receive a scrumptious continental breakfast provided by celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna from her ‘Clodagh's Kitchen’ restaurant also in Arnotts before being presented with a €200 voucher to spend on something sparkly in Appleby’s.

Other crazy competition dates include lunch inside one of the famous window displays of Clery's on O'Connell Street; unearthing Dublin’s gruesome past on a frightful tour of the city with the Dublin Bus Ghost Tour; learning to dance with the renowned JIG Irish dancing group in their Powerscount Townhouse theatre; champagne and strawberries in Lost Society’s "love seat"; and for the more adventurous there are his and hers tattoo’s with Wild Cat.

For all of these competitions plus makeovers and shopping sprees see the competition section of the 50 Dates in Dublin website and on Facebook.

Clyde Carroll, DublinTown's Director of Marketing & Communications said: "Dubliners are world famous for not talking themselves too seriously. This love fest is about having fun while celebrating and highlighting the diverse range of entertainment and businesses that Dublin City Centre has to offer. There really is something for everyone. With Valentine’s Day coming up, our goal is to offer a little inspiration to those looking for unique ways to make romance a little more fun!"
