Bride Chooses JCB For Wedding Transport

A woman from Carlisle has made a special entrance to her wedding reception – after choosing to arrive in a digger.

Heidi Underwood, chose the mode of transport and made sure she arrived in style by standing in its bucket, rather than the cab, the News & Star has reported.

In another twist, the driver behind the wheel of the vehicle was the bride's new husband, Simon, who is a professional JCB driver.

The couple married at Carlisle city's Wigton Road Methodist Church on Saturday, with their reception held at Gilsland Spa.

The 36-year-old admitted she thought it was a good idea for an entrance when the idea was first suggested.

She added: "I was quite looking forward to it because it was something different. I have never seen it done before."

And her father, Ken Holmes, revealed he thought the entrance was "amazing".

"I knew Simon was into diggers but I didn't think he was into them that much," he said. "I had every confidence in him. I must admit I came up to see the dry run as well just to see what it was like. I thought it was absolutely brilliant, we couldn't have had a better day for it, and the look on people's faces was amazing."
