The television personality added the couple were as 'happy as they've ever been'.
Speaking on ITV's Daybreak today, the 38-year-old dismissed rumours that herself and Mead had hit troubles when she was spotted on holiday alone last week.
At the time, it was reported that this was the second time Van Outen had been on holiday by herself this year, leading to the split claims.
However, speaking on Daybreak, she explained: "There's always speculation. The thing is – just to set the record straight – we don't have a nanny so we split out parenting duties, which means we do spend time apart.
"If we had a nanny and we went away all the time together, people would criticise us for not taking our child with us."
She added that she wasn't taking the claims seriously, saying: "It will all blow over – tomorrow's chip paper."
The couple first met after Mead appeared on talent show Any Dream Will Do, when Van Outen was a judge. They began dating in November 2007 and they married in April 2009 in the Seychelles. They have one daughter together, Betsy, who was born in 2010.
