Essex Man Proposes In A Newspaper Advert

A man from Essex has proposed to his girlfriend – by taking out a full page newspaper advert in his local paper.

Steve English (34) popped the question while on a mini-break with his then-girlfriend Hayley Groves, the Daily Mail has said.

The couple were on holiday at Heacham Manor Hotel, Norfolk, when they went out for a picnic. Along the way, estate agent English made sure he picked up a copy of the Eastern Daily Press. Once they reached the beach, English suggested his girlfriend read through the paper, and as she did, he got down on one knee.

In his proposal, he asked: "Hayley Groves will you marry me? I love you with all my heart. We've been with each other for years and my love for you grows more each year.

"You are a beautiful and caring person and have always been there for me 100pc through the bad times.

"My family adores you and I cannot imagine my life without you in it. Now we are expecting our first child I hope you will say yes and make me the happiest man alive."

Despite the risk of a very public rejection, 27-year-old Hayley immediately said yes.

The couple, who are expecting their first baby later this year, are now planning their big day.
