Northern Ireland Brides Break World Record

Around 800 women gathered in Northern Ireland on Saturday to help break a world record.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, the women involved all wore their full bridalwear as they walked along Londonderry's Peace bridge for charity.

The world-record attempt saw the 'brides' descend on the city, making their way from Guildhall Square across the Peace Bridge and on to Ebrington Square before making the return journey to the Cityside.

Of those taking part, was 91-year-old Sheila Cooper, while Sinita Duffy took part in the event on her actual wedding day.

Others brightened up their wedding outfits with striped socks and various coloured accessories.

The event was organised for the Foyle Hospice and saw brides travel from all over England and the Irish Republic to take part. It was organised by a local woman in memory of a man helped by Foyle Hospice.

Each bride was asked to donate £10 to take part.
