According to The Sun, 27-year-old Clare Foster has been planning her wedding for the last four years and has most of her planning already completed.
The decision to start making plans began when Ms Foster saw her 'perfect' wedding gown in the window of a local bridal store. She tried the dress on and a week later, arranged to pick it up.
After deciding that she would go ahead with the purchase, she withdrew £1,700 from her account and paid for the dress. Clare had saved the money over the last few years for a deposit on a house.
Clare then started creating a wedding file with tear-outs and ideas she saw in bridal magazines. In 2010, she decided a vintage fan handed down in her family would go perfectly with her dress. This was soon followed by a pair of sparkly silver and gold peep-toe stilettos she purchased for £75.
A wedding at St Margaret’s Church in Rottingdean, just outside Brighton, was to be followed by a reception in nearby Lewes, at 16th-century hotel Pelham House. The wedding would have a 1940s Hollywood-theme, with a traditional, three-course meal, a three-tier Victoria sponge wedding cake and a band for entertainment.
The couple's first dance will be to Etta James' classic At Last, while a Vegas hen do and exotic beach honeymoon are also included in the planning.
Speaking about her decision to start planning while she is still single, Clare said: "Some people might think it’s odd to be so prepared before I even meet the groom — but with the average UK wedding costing £20,000 I think it is more about being savvy.
"I don’t want to lose out or have to delay my wedding because I don’t have the cash."
Clare, who works for an events firm, has dated over the past few years, but neither of her boyfriends knew of her wedding planning.
She has now been single for two years, but says when she does meet her 'Mr Right', she will keep her wedding planning quiet.
