'Being A Wife Never Ends' - Yoko Ono

Yoko Ono, the widow of John Lennon, has admitted that the life of a Beatles wife "never ends".

Ono made the comment during an interview with BBC Radio 4's Women's Hour.

She added that it was harder being married to Lennon that it would have been married to a politician.

The 80-year-old also admitted that while her career "totally" suffered from her controversial marriage to the Beatles star, the couples love for each other remained "strong".

She explained: "I felt that our love was so strong and so important for us that, you know, I shouldn't worry about if it's going to sacrifice my work or not."

She also said that, although her husband was dead, "his power [is] still there", and explained that she has a lot of "love and respect" for the wives of the other Beatles.

Ono and Lennon married in March 1969 before splitting in 1973. They reunited in 1975 and remained together until Lennon's death in 1980. He was shot and killed in New York as he was returning home with Ono. The couple had one son together.
