The 25-year-old, who plays David Platt in the soap, revealed the news on his Twitter account.
The actor is engaged to long-term girlfriend, Lauren Shippey, and wrote: "Me and @LaurenShippey are pleased to announce we are expecting a baby, we are both very happy. X".
The couple have been dating since they were 14 and already have one child together, a four-year-old daughter Nyla.
Shepherd's character on Corrie is also currently awaiting fatherhood as his wife Kylie is pregnant. However, viewers know that David's half-brother Nick may actually be the dad.
Joking about his news, the actor added: "Thanks for all your kind tweets for me and @LaurenShippey ... I like the "is it Nick's?" comments haha."
In 2010, the couple hit problems in their relationship, when Shepherd was alleged to have fathered a baby son during a one-night stand with another woman.
Following the allegations, it was reported that Shippey had forgiven her partner, with a source at the time telling the Sunday Mirror: "Lauren looked really comfortable with Jack again - they looked like a happy family out in the sunshine."
