According to Closer, the 50-year-old revealed the news in her newspaper column on Sunday.
Malone announced her pregnancy earlier this year, but during a recent ultrasound scan was told that one of her babies is healthy, but the other had not survived. The actress conceived the babies using IVF with her 31-year-old husband Paul.
She wrote: "Looking closely I realised that one of the babies was bigger and had a huge, wonderful heartbeat, while the other had no heartbeat at all.
"I was devastated, hysterical. But you've got to realise that things like that just happen, and I've got to be grateful. I'm happy, healthy and so thankful for the baby I have growing inside me."
Malone, who had a daughter Danielle when she was 17, has been criticised for trying to have another baby, with some calling the actress "too old".
However she hit back at the claims in a recent interview on ITV's Daybreak last month saying: "I'd always wanted another child but the time was never right. You know what, you could drop dead tomorrow.
"I'm fitter now than I was 20 years ago - I've lost 11 stone, I'm 15 years sober.
"My mum always said I don't do things by halves. I was pregnant at 17 and now I'm 50 and pregnant and it's just wonderful."
In 2011, Malone revealed she had lost 10st after being fitted with a gastric band in a bid to get pregnant.
