According to The Mirror, the chat show host revealed the news while speaking to an Irish radio station.
Norton, 50, was in a relationship with Canadian software designer Trevor Patterson for two years, but admitted that he now spends his time with his labradoodle Bailey and terrier Madge.
When he was then told that anyone would be lucky to have him, the singleton joked: "If only now, if only now. Tweet me."
The comedian, who grew up in Co Cork, Ireland, previously shared his London flat with Patterson, but said he enjoys living alone.
"I love living alone, which sounds so miserable, doesn't it? But it is one of my greatest joys.
"I have Bailey and Madge – so I'm never truly alone," he said.
Discussing future plans, Norton added that he would never want to get married as he would be too embarrassed to do so in front of friends.
"I find the self-conscious thing of saying 'I love you' embarrassing," he admitted.
