According to the Daily Mail, the research – which was carried out by Flirt.com – found that almost a third of men polled said that too much fake tan was 'off-putting', with a similar amount claiming heavy amounts of make-up were a no-no when it came to dating.
The men also revealed that the clothes women wear is very important, with 56% saying they appreciate a date making an effort with her clothes more than anything else.
On the other hand, fashion was equally a passion killer, with a quarter of men saying they weren't fans of girls who dressed like Lady Gaga.
'Trendy shoes' also proved unpopular with those polled, with 25% saying clunky platforms and flat brogues proving unpopular. Instead, the classic look tops the list with 50% of men saying that the little black dress was the ideal date look, particularly when paired with heels.
While 47% said they looked for designer labels, more than half admitted that they can't tell the difference and would be happy to see their date in high street clothes. Another 47% claimed they preferred a simple pair of skinny jeans and a figure-hugging blouse, teamed, of course, with low-key, natural make-up. More than half, however, said they prefer their date to keep it simple and wear something casual and low key.
