Eric Cloutier, 38, added that his faith in humanity has been restored as a result, according to The Telegraph.
Mr Cloutier's wife, 31-year-old Rachel, had placed the ring inside a plain watch box before she was taken to hospital to have her fifth child.
It is understood she wanted to keep the ring safe from her two-year-old twin boys while she was away. However, as she was in hospital recovering from the delivery, her husband Eric decided to participate in the community garage sale so his other children would be kept busy.
The watch box was just one of the items Mr Cloutier put up for sale, with someone buying it for $10. It was only the day his wife returned home from the hospital, that she realised the ring was missing.
Last week, the couple appeared on television to ask the buyer, believed to be a middle-ages women who did appear hesitant before she bought the box, to return the ring.
Meanwhile, about seven miles away, Alyssa and Andrew Lossau were looking for a set of keys. They looked inside a wooden box Mrs Lossau's mother, Chaundel Holladay, had bought at a garage sale and given them as a present. When they looked closer, they found the three-carat diamond ring lying inside the box.
Mrs Lossau was then able to contact Mrs Cloutier.
Discussing the reunion, Mr Cloutier said: "It is giving me faith in people again. By the grace of God it ended up with the most honest people."
"You just can't ask for a better ending to a story," his wife added. "I don't think I'll be taking it off any time soon."
