A Third Of Couples Argue Over Bathroom Etiquette

A survey of 2,000 people has revealed that British couples regularly argue over bathroom etiquette.

According to Villeroy & Boch, who conducted the study, leaving the toilet seat up and not replacing a toilet roll are the most common reasons for bad bathroom behaviour.

Interestingly, the results found women are just as guilty as their male counterparts when it comes to bathroom etiquette and are 3% more likely to leave their bathroom towels on the floor.

Comparing regions, those in the North West are most likely to leave their towel on the bathroom floor at 10%, whereas only 3% in Yorkshire and Humberside use their floor as a home for wet towels.

Elsewhere, 29% of women said they have argued with their partner about leaving the toilet seat up. Those couples located in the North East are more likely to argue the topic at 39%, compared to only 21% in Scotland.

However, the most common argument was over the replacement of toilet roll, with more than a third of British women polled saying they had experienced such an argument with their other half.

David Millon, Marketing Director of Villeroy & Boch, said: "Our main aim at Villeroy & Boch is to create beautiful bathrooms that help you unwind and relax, with this in mind we

wanted to find out about British bathroom habits, so that we can consider them in our product design.

"You often hear about women complaining about the loo seat being left up, but we were shocked to learn that almost a third of households argue about the topic. Also Brits think that there's nothing worse than spending a penny when the loo roll hasn't been replaced."
