Denise Welch's Son To Miss Her Wedding

Denise Welch's eldest son, Matt, is to miss his mother's wedding at the wedding – as he supports The Rolling Stones on tour.

According to The Mirror, the 24-year-old's band – The 1975 – are to join the legendary rockers at a gig in Hyde Park on Saturday. As a result, the young man has cancelled his flights to Portugal where his mum is set to tie the knot.

A source told the paper: "On the one hand, Denise was absolutely gutted when Matt rang and told her he wouldn't be attending her big day but on the other, she was absolutely thrilled.

"Den is immensely proud of Matt, especially because he's done all this off his own back with no help or special favours from her.

"As much as she would love Matthew to be there on Saturday, she realises you don't turn down the Rolling Stones."

Matthew is the band's frontman and they scored a top 20 hit earlier this year. The group formed in Manchester 11 years ago and having supported Muse on their recent tour, they are to appear on stage before Mick Jagger and the rest of the Rolling Stones this weekend.

Meanwhile, 55-year-old Denise is expected to marry her boyfriend Lincoln Townley, 40, in Portugal on Saturday where she will be given away by her father. It is thought her youngest son, Louis, will be an usher.
