Speaking during an interview with New magazine, the couple added they "haven't even got a shortlist" of names.
The pair, who used to be co-stars on Coronation Street, are set to welcome their first child – a girl – into the world later this month.
Discussing the topic of baby names, Hudson said: "We're struggling. We don't like the old-fashioned names, but we don't like really quirky ones either.
"We haven't even got a shortlist. I'm hoping when she's here, we'll look at her and a name will just pop into my head."
The 30-year-old added that she "loved" being pregnant and showing off her baby bump, but admitted her hormones had started to get the better of her.
She explained: "I've loved showing off my bump. Just because you're pregnant, it doesn't mean you have to cover it up.
"Towards the end of the pregnancy, my hormones have kicked in a bit more, so sometimes I make a cup of tea and burst into tears for no reason. But then I go, 'What's that about?' and I'm fine."
Speaking about her husband, she said she thinks he will be a "hands on" father, adding: "We aren't putting any pressure on ourselves to go straight back to work."
Hudson and Halsall first met on the set of Coronation Street and began dating in 2005. They married in June 2009 and in February this year, they confirmed they were expecting their first child together.
