'Women Find Men To Be Useless' – Survey

A new survey has revealed that women feel men aren't overly reliable or useful.

The study of 1,000 adults, which was carried out by Frank's Red Hot, found that while men aren't great at remembering birthdays – or for their dancing skills – there are a few areas where they do excel, namely, at catching spiders.

A total of 60% of the women surveys said men were good at getting rid of the eight-legged creatures, while 56% rated men's barbecue skills. A further 73% said men can change a tyre, but just over half rated men's ability to drink alcohol.

When it comes to household chores like ironing, only 10% of women felt a man could iron a shirt, while 4% thought they could dance. Women also claimed their male counterparts are useless at choosing home fixtures and fixtures, or when it comes to cooking anything complicated.

Men felt they they could still try their hand at DIY, but a significant portion of respondents (46%) said they had hurt themselves while doing so.

Although it can happen to anyone, missing a flight, forgetting to pick the kids up from school and phoning in sick to work seems more likely to happen to men more than women as well.

Elsewhere, 43% of participants thought men were generally worse than women at a number of life skills, while a third said today's men are no better than their fathers when it comes to certain skills.

A spokesman for Frank's Red Hot said: "Our research shows many men are lacking in skills which they were better at many years ago.

"In fact, time seems to have stood still for many men when it comes to skills like ironing, shopping, multi-tasking and keeping up with fashion.

"We hope this research is a rude awakening to those millions of men who still rely on their partners for a variety of skills around the home."

The top 10 skills men lack are:

1. Buying clothes for a partner (52%)

2. Remembering an anniversary (41%)

3. Dancing (33%)

4. Ironing (31%)

5. Cooking (30%)

6. Domestic chores (30%)

7. Buying gifts (28%)

8. Multi-tasking (22%)

9. Keeping up with fashion (22%)

10. Picking furniture (21%)
