Man Hospitalised After Wedding Fight

Three people have been arrested, with one hospitalised, after a fight broke out at a wedding in Newmarket, Cambridge News has reported.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance at the Rowley Mile racecourse in Newmarket by staff and guests around 11.45pm on Saturday. When police arrived, it is understood some of the guests turned on the officers.

Suffolk Police confirmed a 25-year-old man and a 49-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing an affray and assaulting a police officer at the sophisticated Millennium Grandstand venue. Both men, who are from Ely, were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and have been bailed until 24 September. A third man remains at West Suffolk Hospital after he received injuries in the brawl and is arrested on suspicion of causing an affray.

A number of guests were treated by the ambulance service for minor injuries, while further reports of minor assaults are being investigated.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said: "Police were called to the Millennium Stand by staff and other callers reporting a disturbance at a wedding reception at approximately quarter to midnight on Saturday.

"Some guests also had to be treated by the ambulance service."
