The bassist proposed to his Brazilian model partner earlier this year after a four-year relationship.
It had previously been rumoured that the couple would marry in France, but today (4 September), the couple exchanged vows in Dublin.
Clayton, 53, from Malahide in Dublin, was once engaged to supermodel Naomi Campbell in 1994, before they separated just months later.
None of U2's other band members are thought to have attended the ceremony, but The Edge and his wife, Morleigh Steinberg, did attend and congratulated the happy couple.
It is understood the newlyweds will now be joined by more than 150 guests in France over the weekend with a three-day wedding reception being held. The celebrations will start on Friday.
It has not been revealed where the couple will be taking their honeymoon.
