A new survey has revealed that Britons would rather have a tidy home than make love to their partner.
A clean house was also more popular than going on holiday or socialising.
The poll, which was carried out by Beko, discovered that 36% of people said a tidy home is their greatest pleasure. This is followed by a holiday (34%), sex (18%), and having a good night out (11%).
Furthermore, the research found that most of the cleaning still falls to women.
Women were found to spend an average of six hours more a week on household chores than their male counterparts, with females putting 17 hours a week (or more than two full working days) into cleaning.
Interestingly, there was a significant difference between the effort couples actually make when cleaning, compared to how much effort they think they make. For example, men underestimate their partner's cleaning efforts by 12 hours, while 26% claim their boyfriend or husband never cleans around the house.
When it comes to certain tasks, 40% of women don't think men should clean out the fridge, while almost half of men said it was their responsibility to take out the bins. Both were in agreement that DIY work was also better suited to men.
George Mead of Beko commented: "The survey certainly shows there's a discrepancy between the sexes when it comes to division of housework so appliances that save time can help families enjoy more quality time together."
