The study, which was commissioned by Kalms, found that women are actually more likely to stress over having a baby or moving house.
However, both sexes were in agreement that family and friends are a major source of anxiety in the run-up to the ceremony.
Some 44% of couples said the most difficult task was deciding who to invite to the wedding, while 35% said it was staying within their budget. Next on the list of worries, was keeping friends and family happy (35%), and overbearing family members (24%). A further 23% of couples said interfering mother-in-laws caused anxiety, rounding out the top five.
For some, the pressure and stress can prove too much, with 25% struggling to sleep ahead of their wedding and 18% arguing with their other half. Some women even admitted to being reduced to tears and putting on weight as they comfort ate ahead of their big day.
Other stressful events in our lives include moving house (37%), having a baby (34%) and changing jobs (11%).
Money was found to be a significant worry in all of these events, with budgets being a significant stress factor for half the population when moving house and 40% of the population when having a baby.
Life coach Sophia Davis is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying: "Our society has massive fears surrounding money after what, for some, has seemed like a never-ending recession.
"The Kalms Annual Stress Report highlight the high levels of stress some people are under.
"A good friend, coach or counsellor can help you to regain perspective on your situation and allow you to restore your belief in yourself to overcome your challenges and turn them into opportunities."
