Speaking to Jeremy Vine as part of a BBC Radio 2 project in aid of Children in Need, the 30-year-old burns survivor revealed: "I feel so lucky because for any women it's a blessing to be able to conceive and carry a child, and to be honest, there was a time in my life when I thought I'd lost that privilege.
"I had to keep saying to myself; 'it's real, it's really happening to me!'"
Piper and her partner of two years, moved in together last year.
In 2008, the mum-to-be was the victim of an acid attack. The attack, which blinded Piper in one eye, was arranged by her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch, and carried out by an accomplice, Stefan Sylvestre.
The incident was caught on CCTV and both Lynch and Sylvestre were arrested. Lynch received two life sentences, and will serve a minimum of 16 years. Sylvestre received a life sentence, and will serve a minimum of 12 years.
