According to the Daily Echo, Rico Clay and Dawn Bryant-Jefferies chose the theme for their big day, and even asked their family and friends to get into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up as well.
Explaining their decision, Mr Clay, 38, is quoted by the paper as saying: "It was both our second weddings and we both have young kids so we thought it would be nice to get them involved.
"Originally we thought about taking them to Gretna Green and just having a close family thing but then all our friends said they wanted to be there.
"Then at New Year's we had this drunken idea to come in fancy dress and it all snowballed from there."
His wife added: "We have four children between us and we thought this was a nice touch.
"Everyone was really happy about it and so many different ideas came in about costumes.
"We are just so happy to be married. It is the three-year anniversary since our first date which is why we chose to do it today.
"We are best friends and could not be happier."
While Clay and Bryant-Jefferies were dressed up as Batman and Catwoman respectively, their wedding party included Superman, Wonder Woman, and Darth Vader, with Clay's father-in-law turning up as The Joker.
