The singer, who has been married to actress Ayda Field for three years, added that his views are "selfish", but said he needs "supporting".
In an interview with The Sun on Sunday, the 39-year-old joked: "Ayda wants to go back to work but I don't want her to. I'm a bit caveman about it all.
"I say, 'You won't leave the cave. I don't want you to leave the cave. I want you to stay here with me and do the supporting thing... Not having her there does scare me a bit."
He added that his wife is "talented and incredibly charismatic. But, selfishly, I want her to be at home with me."
Williams also admitted his wife and their 14-month-old daughter, Theodora 'Teddy' Rose, joined him on his recent UK tour and he found it allowed him to balance his work and family life.
He explained: "The purpose of the tour was not only to entertain people and get my confidence back, but also to take care of us as a family, financially.
"So my responsibility to my family was to get enough sleep and perform the best that I can perform.
"Me and Teddy hung out in the dressing room during the afternoon and early evening then she went off to bed ... I didn't have to juggle anything because mummy took take of everything."
Williams and Field are said to have started dating in May 2006. In November 2009, the singer proposed to his partner live on Australian radio, but later said it was a joke. In August 2010, the couple tied the knot in Los Angeles and in May 2012, they confirmed they were expecting their first child together.
