Cowell 'To Be At Baby's Birth'

Simon Cowell has said he will be present at the birth of his first child.

The 54-year-old is due to welcome a son with his girlfriend, US socialite Lauren Silverman, in February.

And despite the music mogul saying he isn't "good with blood and guts", he revealed to HELLO! magazine that he will be by his partner's side.

"I will be in the delivery room, but I'll just try not to look too far down."

When asked if he will cut the baby's umbilical cord himself, he added: "Are you mad? I'm not good with all that blood and guts stuff."

The latest comments a far cry from Cowell's opinions just weeks earlier when he said he would not watch the birth.

In September he was quoted as saying: "I know this sounds awful, but it's like, you don't want to go in to the restaurant while they're making your dinner. I think there are certain things you shouldn't see and that is one of them. I'll be very close by, but no [I won't watch]."

Earlier this year, a US newspaper revealed the millionaire was to become a parent for the first time with Ms Silverman. At the time, 36-year-old Ms Silverman was technically still married to her husband – Andrew Silverman – who is also a close friend of Cowell's.

The Silvermans', who have a seven-year-old son together, finalised their divorce in August.
