The couple announced they had separated in June this year after Sinclair, 24, was alleged to have send a string of 'sext' messages to another woman.
However, Flanagan has said the time apart has benefitted them both.
Speaking to Now magazine, the former Coronation Street actress admitted: "Yeah, I'm happy. The time apart probably did us some good. We got together when we were really young – when I was, like, 19, so it's kind of hard."
She added that she still wanted to tie the knot with the footballer and have children, but wanted to concentrate on her career first.
"I've always dreamt more about babies and stuff [than weddings]," she said. "I was in LA shopping with my agent and I was just looking at baby things!
"I've been thinking about it for a while. But to sit down and plan it is much harder. When you have a baby you can't do the work I do, but I can be a working mum.
"I want to focus on my career next year, but maybe around my birthday [in August] I'll start thinking about it."
Flanagan and Sinclair first started their relationship in 2009.
