Half Of Men Don't Know Their Partner's Size

A recent survey has revealed that a significant number of British men have no idea what their partner's measurements are.

The poll, which was carried out by vouchercloud.com, involved 1,921 men who had been in a relationship for six months or more. When asked about their other half's measurements, half admitted they had "no idea" – despite 54% having previously bought something for their partner. Some 19% were hesitant when it came to their partner's dress size, while 31% claimed they would be able to choose the right size if they were in a shop.

Of those who were clueless, yet purchased something previously, they admitted to guessing the size, while 29% had to ask an assistant for help. Furthermore, 17% said they had opted to "buy a small size as a form of flattery should it be the incorrect size" as they were worried they would insult their other half. The method didn't always work however, as 65% said they got it wrong at least once.

Interestingly, when asked if they would be happier buying clothes for their wife or girlfriend if they knew their size, 57% said no. This was because they were worried they would choose the wrong style for their partner.

Commenting on the findings, Matthew Wood of vouchercloud, said: "Most men know that buying clothes for your partner can be a bit of a minefield.

"Dress sizes really aren't that complicated though. You don't need to be Poirot to work out what it is. When it comes to style though, that's up to the individual.

"Having said that, knowing the correct size will mean that even if you buy the most garish of dresses, at least your partner will be content that there was at least some thought behind the purchase."
