In an interview with the Birmingham Mail, the dancer said: "I've been on one of those dating sites, which was hilarious. They say 'This is your perfect match' – but I kept wondering 'Is it really?'
"I wrote my own profile which I put on there, saying 'Craig Revel Horwood is looking for love'.
"I got lots of responses, but for all the wrong reasons.
"I was on there for a month and went on a couple of dates but it didn't work out. I thought 'this is ridiculous' and had to come off it.
"It is a bit scary meeting new people and, if your profiles match, it eliminates the drama of finding out whether you have anything in common.
"I found my dates never looked the same as their photos online, though. People put really glamorous shots up and then you don't recognise them when you meet them.
"The main problem with online dating is that you can't figure out chemistry on the internet. You can only discover that in person."
In October 2013, it was revealed that Horwood was in a relationship with 34-year-old Damon Scott. Scott, a puppeteer, appeared in the first series of Britain's Got Talent and was runner-up to Paul Potts.
Commenting on the relationship, he said: "You probably remember him as the Monkey Man.
"We met the old-fashioned way, with our eyes meeting across a bar.
"It's all fantastic. It's going really well and we're in love."
