Simon Cowell has become a father for the first time.
On Friday, it was revealed the 54-year-old had skipped the latest round of Britain's Got Talent auditions in order to fly to the US to be with his pregnant partner, Lauren Silverman.
It was later confirmed that Ms Silverman had gone into labour and on Friday evening, the couple became parents to a baby boy, Eric.
Taking to Twitter to share his happy news, the music mogul told his followers: "Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome.
"Lauren in great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages. Named after my dad."
The baby weighed 6lbs 7oz.
Cowell also shared the first images of his "handsome" boy, as well as a black and white shot of the new family.
In one of the photos, Simon is holding Eric while Lauren is sitting next to him. The caption read: "Mum, Dad and Eric. Now two days old."
In another, Simon is cradling his son against his chest. Writing alongside the photo, he admitted he is besotted with his new-found fatherhood. He wrote: "I never knew how much love and pride I would feel."
The last photo he shared was a close-up of Eric with the caption: "...now you can see how very handsome little Eric is."
Cowell's relationship with US socialite Silverman first emerged last July when the X Factor judge had been named as a co-respondent in divorce papers filed by Ms Silverman's husband, Andrew. At the time, Mr Silverman, who was also a close friend of the millionaire, is alleged to have cited adultery as the reason for divorce. The Silvermans finalised their divorce in August 2013 and have one son together.
