Rumours that Katy Perry and her boyfriend John Mayer are engaged, have been denied.
According to E! Online earlier this week, the singer was spotted leaving the Sunset Towers Hotel in Los Angeles at the weekend, wearing what appeared to be a ring on her engagement finger.
Mayer was also present when the photo was taken and both can be seen smiling as they leave the hotel, with the item of jewellery clearly visible, sparking rumours that the couple had become engaged.
Neither Perry, 29, or 36-year-old Mayer had commented on the speculation, but the latter did take to his Twitter account to share the cryptic message: "I got the hottest girl in the game. Pick in' my brain. (sic)"
However, a source close to the couple has since said the reports are not true.
Speaking to Us Weekly, the insider is quoted as saying: "It's not true. They are not engaged.
"It was a romantic Valentine's Day dinner for the two of them in a private spot but there was no proposal...the dinner was sweet but low-key."
Perry and Mayer have been dating on and off since August 2012.
The 'Firework' singer was previously married to British comedian Russell Brand. They started dating in 2009 and announced their engagement in December of that year before marrying in October 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony in India. After 14 months of marriage, Brand filed for divorce in December 2011, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce was finalised in July 2012.
